Cité de l’Espace, Toulouse
The Cité de l’Espace in
Toulouse is probably better explained by the photos, so I will be generous in this regard. However, the IMAX theatre experience of being on a space station, in 3D (glasses and all), needs at least to be mentioned in passing and recommended to all and sundry. Quite stunning. The guided tour was okay and we learnt a few things but I wouldn’t be bothered a second time. The Planetarium showed us the skies of the ancient Egyptians with some electronic wizardry which had us zooming through temples at
Thebes. That was fun and also instructive.
The MIR space station set-up was great to walk through and see how they managed in such small spaces. Much larger spaces nowadays. Totally well worthwhile – and did I mention the 3D IMAX film ‘experience’ of the space-station? Now that was outstanding!
